“No-one will ever know you had a missing tooth!”
We use dental bridges to fill gaps caused by a missing teeth. And even though dental bridges are false teeth, our clinic uses the latest techniques to create the illusion that the tooth is emerging from the gum, for a natural look.
Bridging the gap.
These days, dental bridges look entirely natural – and they feel just like a real tooth. A dental bridge is also a swift and painless procedure that can improve tooth function, bite, chewing, use of cosmetics and helping to fill out the face where you have lost teeth.
Our implantologists and ceramists will create a porcelain dental bridge that matches your existing teeth perfectly and which is supported by adjacent teeth or implants. And because bridges now give the impression of the tooth emerging from the gum, no-one will ever know you had a missing tooth!
What types of dental bridges are available?
Traditional fixed dental bridge
Ideal for replacing one or more missing teeth, a fixed dental bridge is where a crown is placed over the teeth on either side of the gap to support the ‘false tooth’. But unlike traditional bridges, you won’t be left with an unsightly black line at gum level. Modern dental bridges look every bit as beautiful and natural as real teeth.
Cantilever dental bridge.
More suitable for front teeth, a cantilever bridge is similar to a fixed bridge in that it’s supported by a crown on an adjacent tooth. The difference is the only one crown is required, so fewer teeth need to be treated.
Resin bonded dental bridges / Maryland dental bridge.
Ideal for front teeth, resin bonded dental bridges are a bit like fixed bridges, but instead of crowns either side they rely on metal or ceramic ‘wings’ bonded behind the supporting teeth with a strong resin. The advantage is that the teeth on either side of the ‘false tooth’ need minimal or no preparation. Also, because the ‘wings’ are hidden from view, only the porcelain is visible.
Implant supported dental bridges.
Implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. Our dentists will place an implant into the bone where the tooth root used to be. Then, once it’s fused with the bone, a dental bridge can be securely fixed onto it. The advantage is that you don’t need to have existing teeth either side – or if you do, they don’t need a crown or bonded ‘wings’.
Will it be painful?
All bridge and dental implant treatments are carried out using the latest pain-free anaesthetic techniques. During treatment you can relax and watch DVDs with our DVD goggle in-chair entertainment system or listen to your choice of music.
