These days advanced materials and the latest tissue management techniques result in the replacement teeth appearing to emerge from the gum exactly like a natural tooth, so no-one will be able to tell it’s a replacement!

Tooth replacement – bridges.

One of the simplest and most inexpensive ways of replacing a tooth or teeth is to use a bridge which is then supported by surrounding teeth or implants.

The downside is that surrounding teeth may need to be trimmed down to make way for the bridge. Also, because the teeth in bridges are linked or fused together, you can’t floss between your teeth although you can still floss and clean underneath.

The upside is that nowadays bridges look completely natural, without any of the unsightly black lines patients used to get in the ‘bad old days’. And because of the illusion that the tooth is emerging from the gum, your bridge will look every bit as natural as the surrounding teeth.

Tooth replacement – dental implants.

These days many patients who visit our Altrincham clinic opt for single or multiple dental implants which are secured and fused into the gum where the tooth root used to be. A crown is then attached to the implant to form a completely natural looking tooth.

The advantage of implants is that, unlike bridges, each tooth is independent – so you can floss between them. Also, because each tooth is supported by the implant rather than the teeth on either side, we don’t need to carry out any preparation work on the surrounding teeth.

Tooth replacement – cosmetic dentures.

Traditional dentures have a history of being ill-fitting, uncomfortable and loose. Also, because they cover the whole palate they can interfere with speech and eating. In our Altrincham clinic we only use implant supported dentures which clip firmly into supporting implants for a secure, perfect fit. And, unlike traditional dentures, they’re smaller and don’t cover the palate. The result is a totally natural, youthful smile, just as with any of our other brilliant smile makeovers.

All invasive treatments are carried out using the latest pain-free anaesthetic techniques. During treatment you can relax and watch DVDs with our DVD goggle in-chair entertainment system or listen to your choice of music.
